Kiwanis Club of North Suburban Golden K St Paul initiated, manages, and provides volunteers at the Food Shelf, located in the Fairvew Community Center on County Road B, near Fairview Avenue in Roseville.
Over the years since the Food Shelf was first established in 1986, many of our members have repeatedly worked there, maintaining inventory and other records, and filling orders. The committee chairs maintains a roster of volunteers and monitors the operation of the Food Shelf on a continuing basis in cooperation with Keystone Community Services, which is involved in the screening of clients.
The club makes cash contributions regularly for the purchase of perishable food and other products not contributed by donor organizations.. Food donations are received regularly from local churches and business establishments and from Second Harvest. Land O' Lakes Inc. has contributed many dozens of eggs through the efforts of our member Dick Bonde, a retired employee of the firm. If a surplus of food accumulates, it is distributed to other food shelves in the metro area.
