Our officers are: President, Past President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant Treasurer. The first four serve 4 years starting with a year as VP and moving up annually through President-Elect, President and Past President. Secretaries and Treasurers are appointed annually but may serve more than one term. The Board of Directors includes the officers plus 6 directors serving 3-year terms, with two being replaced each year.

55 Alive

Fifty Five Alive is a program of defensive, safe driving instruction for persons age 55 and over presented with the cooperation of AARP and of the Roseville Parks & Recreation Department. It's a very popular program because persons who successfully take the course are granted a 10% discount on their auto insurance.

Biographies

As new members join they are asked to present a biography of themselves to the general membership at one of the weekly meetings. An audio recording is made and added to our library of biographies. Some of the earlier biographies are in a print form.

Bulletin - Golden Kayer

Once each month, a committee of three gathers news, develops a print master, publishes it and distributes it to the membership the last weekly meeting of the month. Copies are sent to members who are shut-ins or on leave.

Community Services

Chaired by the club's Vice President, this committee develops methods and means whereby the club can render effective community service in terms of providing volunteers for projects of this club or other community organizations and of awarding grants from funds raised by the club specifically for community service.

Finance & Audit

This committee monitors the financial condition of the club, devises ways and means of raising money for community projects and administrative needs, assists the President Elect in developing for Board approval Administrative and Service budgets for the ensuing year, and assumes responsibility for seeing that the club's financial situation is audited annually.

Greeters

Greeters are members who arrive a little early, don "Greeter Name Tags" and greet both old members and new guests as they arrive at the meeting place welcoming them and directing them to register on the Guest Register if they are there for the first time and then to enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or water.

Hamline Center Food Shelf

The Club's Food Shelf Workers support a community food shelf located in the Hamline Center operated by Keystone Community Services. It is a group of dedicated members who volunteer to work at the food shelf several hours a day, five days each week & provides some fund assistance from the club. Another group of volunteers collect day-old bread donated by Panera and bring that to the food shelf every week.

Human & Spiritual Values

This committee cooperates on broad and non-denominational lines with religious leaders and others to create a greater individual and public consciousness of the importance of religious and spiritual values. Among other activities, it coordinates an annual church youth leadership breakfast involving 20 or more local churches, and provides volunteers from among club members to give the opening invocation at each club meeting.

Interclubs

An interclub meeting involves two or more Kiwanis Clubs and a great way to exchange ideas and learn about other clubs. A visiting group of two of more members attend a regular meeting of another club in order to qualify for Interclub credit (and a club patch) Our club usually gets involved in about 8 every year.

International

In 1994, Kiwanis International adopted a project called "Iodine — the Kiwanis Solution" designed to eliminate iodine deficiency (IDD) disorders as a world health problem by the year 2000. Our club was very sctive in this effort. Kiwanis International's current worldwide service project is eliminating maternal neonatal tetanus (MPT) in the world's children. Again we are involved and raising funds for this project.

Meeting Arrangements

This group is responsible for preparing the meeting room for the weekly meeting. It might involve things like positioning the tables and chair and the podium; arranging for visual aids requested by the speaker; testing out the visual aids equipment and public address system; and arranging the registration table and the box containing the name tags of members. Curtains and blinds may need adjustment and the club banners hung in front of the room.

Membership & Education

Membership and Education maintains the membership in the club including recruiting younger members and women. It considers all proposals for membership and submits its recommendations to the Board of Directors. It plans for the orientation and induction of new members and the education and utilization of all members, promotes communication and fellowship among members including maintenance of a club website, and organizes and updates "Circle 3" keep-in-touch groups within the club.

Peanut Day Program

The peanut day program is one of the major fundraisers for the club. These members solicit corporate donors in advance of Peanut Day; secure and store boxes of peanuts and prepare for member sales people to man selected community store fronts and solicit voluntary donations from passers-by. Sales persons also sell at the Rosefest Parade Day.

Program Committee

The Program Committee's main function is to provide the best club meeting possible for each week of the administrative year, including (but not limited to) a presentation each week of an interesting and timely topic by a capable speaker. We are very proud of the quality of speakers we are able to secure. Because we are such a large club, speakers are more willing to visit.

Publicity

The purpose of the committee is to enhance the image of the Club and International organization within the immediate and broader community utilizing creative ideas and current technology.

Scholarships

The Scholarships Committee serves as a jury to screen applications from seniors at North Suburban area high schools for academic post-secondary entrance scholarships funded by the Club. It also serves as an advisory group on the scholarship program. The Committee has three jurors who are former high school teachers and three who are former College or University Professors, as well as a non-juror Chair.

Song Leaders

These members are responsible for leading the members in a patriotic song at the front end of each weekly meeting.

Sponsored Youth

In Kiwanis, this term refers to clubs of boys and girls of college and high school age and younger that have their own names and organization (such as Circle K, Key, Builders, or K-Kids) but are sponsored by a regular or a Golden K club. Clubs in which the age range is that of middle schools are known as Builders Club. Through this committee, our club sponsors a Builders Club that meets in Roseville Lutheran Church, although most such clubs meet in schools.

Young Children: Priority One

This is the key group whose activities promote the Children: Priority One theme of Kiwanis International. Examples of these include building equipment and repairing toys for a Head Start program, and tutoring children in local schools, as well as helping to support such activities financially.

Youth Services

The general objective of this committee is to assist boys and girls to adjust themselves to their environment and become adapted to the social economic and moral demands which they may encounter. It sponsors or cosponsors and supports sound youth development activities such as Community Partners with Youth.
