I am back from Texas vacation and the grandkids are all okay. LaMar remains steadfast to the ringing of the bell and getting our meeting started with the “Harris Stretch”. Nice to see nothing has changed in the week I was gone!

Minutes - 1/31/2012 meeting
President LaMar Zollinger got us started right at 2;00 o’clock with the bell and had us warm up with the “Harris stretch” and get everyone into a good mood.

It was the usual start to the Tuesday meeting as LaMar Zollinger, our president, rang the bell and got us to stretch before getting down to business. Phil Larsen led us in the invocation highlighting the service activities of our Kiwanis group and our impact on the community.

There was a board of directors meeting before the regular meeting. I am on the board now and find it interesting to see our club in action behind the scenes. Everyone should join a board of director’s forum – it’s very educational. The regular meeting started in its regular way with the ringing of the bell and the “Harris stretch”. The consistency in the running of this meeting is a good thing.

Minutes - 12/20/2011 meeting
On this last December meeting date and the last meeting for the year – I wasn’t sure if I should write a blog, but since I was the resident Santa for the day – staff assignment from some guy in a red suit from the North Pole, I guess I’ll just put down my thoughts about this meeting. The meeting was really just a social event, but then, when you really think about it, that’s a big part of what Kiwanis is to any of its members. We gather weekly to share experiences, serve our communities and learn new things, but the fact remains, we gather together.

Minutes - 11/29/2011 meeting
LaMar Zollinger rings the opening bell again and we stretch before going into the meeting agenda.
There are circle three reports again this week. Steve Forshay updated us on Art Hedstrom’s progress with the broken hip. Art is in rehab for two more weeks before he goes home. He’d rather be with us! Howard Rines notes that Bob Busch has ALS (Lou Gerig disease) and is slowly getting worse. Ron Ness is also still in the hospital.

This was our second and final week at the Fairview facility. LaMar announced our return next week to the Roseville oval meeting room and for the rest of the year. Then, he led us in the usual stretch and got the meeting rolling.

Today John Sweeney marked the close of the club's fiscal year and the end of his tenure with the opening bell. There was no "Harris Stretch" and the meeting was abbreviated to allow time for the installation of officers for the next fiscal year, starting on the first Tuesday in October. There were no circle three reports and no Happy Dollars today.

Minutes - 9/13/2011 meeting
Let's start this week's blog with an apology for missing last week's blog. It turns out that both blog writers for the group, myself and Walt Wolf, went off on vacation without talking to each other and the net effect was that nobody was left to write that blog Ð opps! Well, the meeting did happen and we had another good presentation (no surprise there!). It featured a discussion and update on the central corridor light rail project. The speaker was Shoua Lee, Outreach Coordinator for the Metropolitan Council and expert on the progress of that project. Sorry I missed it and sorry there was no blog last week. I promise it won't happen often.

With the room full and the most guests in a long time, John Sweeney decided that we should not do the “Harris stretch” today to avoid hitting any of our guests with our exuberance.
